Event Details:

New York Center for Living invited Legacy Outdoor Adventures and Summit Achievement to present on the latest Outdoor Behavioral Healthcare research and trends. The title for this session was “Wilderness Therapy: History, Practice and Research”, presented by Derek Daley, Co-Founder of Legacy Outdoor and Dr. William White, Co-Founder and Co-Owner of Summit Achievement.


The workshop provided participants with an in-depth understanding of how traditional treatment center programming can be enhanced by incorporating Wilderness Therapy and adventure therapy elements, to help clients.


We covered:

  1. The long history of the field.

  2. Ethical practices in wilderness therapy.Evidence based research related to wilderness therapy.

  3. The various behavioral healthcare employment opportunities related to wilderness therapy.


2 CEU’s weere offered for LMSW/LCSW & CASAC’s, and a light breakfast was provided.
