Diagnosis and Treatment Objectives:
(1) To utilize adventure planning and debrief (Gass, Gillis, & Russell, 2012) to
increase Brian’s self-efficacy and lessen his patterns of overly relying on others
before attempting tasks himself.
(2) To reduce performance anxiety which leads to increased depression and anxiety
by appropriately challenging Brian through adventure activities, pro-socially and
emotionally. Specifically, with adventure navigation and summiting a peak.
(3) To emphasize Brian’s positive attributes in order to to increase his agency. By
planning, preparing and achieving attainable adventure and weekly goals, in a such way that ensures success, while also, utilizing guides to direct and monitor
this process.
(4) Use of narrative/story therapy in debriefing adventure experience with focus on
accomplishments and strengths to establish positive self-talk.
